Outline

This is a course for those who learn Japanese for the first time and English users in the Caribbean.

The Marugoto A1-1 (Katsudoo & Rikai) Tutor Support Course is a course to comprehensively learn about the Japanese language and culture. In this course, you can self-study online while a regularly having your assignments corrected and receiving live lessons by a tutor.

In the Katsudoo section of this course, you can gain practical communication skills for everyday situations by listening to a lot of Japanese as you practice speaking. Meanwhile, in the Rikai section, you can systematically learn how Japanese is used in communication. The objective is to gain a comprehensive Japanese ability that includes reading, listening, writing, and speaking.

There are three types of lessons offered in this course.
・5 live lessons
・1 oral test
・3 Katsudoo and 9 Rikai assignments corrected

This course has groups, too. Through the group noticeboard, you can study while communicating with friends that you learn with and tutors.

If you want to thoroughly study Japanese from scratch by yourself, while enhancing your practical skills with tutor support, this course is for you! You will meet other friends who study Japanese in the course group and live lessons, too!

■About the student selection process
This is a course where participating students are determined by a selection process. For those who wish to apply for the selection process, first carefully read the course outline in full. Then, within the designated application time period, please click the 'Course Registration' button and complete the application. The results of the selection process are expected to be sent to the email address registered with 'Minato' on May 10(Fri.)around 08:00pm. (Trinidad and Tobago, UTC -4)

About Live Lesson

■Live lessons
Live lessons are offered in fixed classes of one tutor for 10 students. One lesson is 50 minutes long and there is one lesson for every topic (6 in total, the first live lesson is for course guidance). The live lessons are based on conversations learned in the self-study materials and written assignments, so you will need to have completed the self-study for each topic before the live lesson.

Live lessons schedule: on Tuesdays
May 14 and 28, June 11 and 25, July 9 and 23
from 7:00 PM to 7:50 PM (Trinidad and Tobago time, UTC -4)


■Oral test
The oral test is conducted one-on-one on either day between the following options. It is usually about 15 minutes.

■System used
Live lessons and oral tests are conducted through Zoom<https://zoom.us/>. However, for any first time users the program will need to be installed in advance. We use password and waiting room functions as security measures while using Zoom. The system requirements (necessary bandwidth) for the group video conference using Zoom are as follows.

■What you need
To take the live lessons and oral test, please have the following four items ready.
1. Computer with internet connection

       Mac: Safari、Google Chrome
      ※The latest version is recommended.
3. Headset (with microphone)
4. Web camera

Note:
・Live lessons connect learners from around the world. Please do not be late. Please understand that there may be up to a 15-minute delay, depending on the connection.
・Be sure to use a computer that is connected to the internet. Do not participate with a smartphone, as information will be shared during live lessons.

Completion Requirements

Score of 60 or higher

The allocation of points is as follows.
・Study progress 50%
・Assignment 10%
・Test 10%
・Live lesson 20%
・Oral test 10%

Note:
・You can take the test if you go over 60% in both the study progress and submitted assignments of each lesson.
・You will not be given an attendance certificate if you do not attend any of the live lessons and you do not take the oral test.
