Marugoto A1-2 (Katsudoo & Rikai) Tutor Support Course

Outline

This course is a course to comprehensively learn about the Japanese language and culture. In this course, you can self-study online while having assignments to be reviewed by your instructor and participating in live lessons with the instructor and classmates.

The objective is to comprehensively gain the abilities in Japanese language which include reading, listening, writing, and speaking.
In Katsudoo section of this course, you can gain practical communication skills for everyday situations by listening to a lot of Japanese language as you practice speaking. In Rikai section, you can systematically learn how the language is used in communication. It is recommended to keep working on one lesson a week.

There are three types of supports provided in this course.:
・ 5 live lessons (once every two weeks)
・ 1 attempt of oral test
・ 1 assignment from Katsudoo and 8 from Rikai, to be reviewed by your instructor

This course has a communication group, too, so that you can study through communicating with your classmates and instructor on the Group Noticeboard.

If you want to thoroughly learn A1 level of Japanese by yourself through enhancing your practical skills with the tutor supports, this course is just for you! 
In the group lesson, you can also make friends around the world who study Japanese language and culture!

■Participant screening process
In the screening, prospective participants will be chosen by lot. If you apply for a class, please carefully read the course outline first, and click the 'Course Registration' button to complete the application form by the deadline.


The result of the application will be announced via email to your address which is registered in 'Minato' at about 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 20th (Japan Time).

About Live Lesson

■Live Lesson
Live lessons are facilitated by a instructor with 6 students at maximum in a closed class. In the first meeting, course guidance will be given by the instructor. From the second meeting to the last, one topic will be covered in a lesson. During the lesson you put into practice what you have studied in Marugoto Japanese Online Course site. Every lesson takes approximately 45 minutes.
The date and time of live lessons depends on class.
Please choose a preferred class when you apply for the course, considering that you better manage to take part in all five Live Lessons through the course term. Also, please note that class and schedule of Live Lessons cannot be changed or rearranged for any participant for any personal reason.

Class 1: 9:00-9:45 AM (Japan Time) on Mondays: May 24th, June 7th, June 21st, July 5th and July 19th
Class 2: 9:00-9:45 AM (Japan Time) on Tuesdays: May 25th, June 8th, June 22st, July 6th and July 20th
Class 3: 2:00-2:45 PM (Japan Time) on Tuesdays: May 25th, June 8th, June 22st, July 6th and July 20th

■Oral test
The oral test is one-on-one with your instructor after all of the live lessons have been finished. It is for about 20 minutes a participant. The Schedule of the oral test will be determined after consulting with your instructor sometime in the course term.

■Software required for live lesson and oral test
Live lessons and oral test will be conducted with Zoom (https://zoom.us/). Just by clicking a Zoom URL distributed by your instructor, you step into your Live Lesson room, which means there is no need to download any system or sign up, but just install the up-to-date version of  Zoom program for Live Lessons.

The recommended environment (required bandwidth) for the group video conference via Zoom is as follows.: Upload Speed 600kbps / Download Speed 1.2Mbps

■Gears required for live lesson and oral test 
To participate in live lessons and oral test, please have the following four items ready.:

1. Computer with internet connection
  Windows: Windows 10 / 8.1 or later
  Mac:OS X 10.10 or later
2. Web browser
   Windows: Internet Explorer 11, Chrome, or Safari
    Mac: Safari, or Chrome
   *The version should be updated.
3. Headset with microphone
4. Web camera (Internal PC camera is also acceptable.)

Note:
・Be sure to use a computer that is connected to the internet. Do not participate with a smartphone, as instructor’s screen will be shared during live lessons.
・Be punctual and respect other participants and your instructor. Participants may access from around the world. We would be happy if you understand that live lesson can be delayed or extended up to 15 minutes depending on their connection condition.

Completion Requirements

Score to pass the course: 60 points or more

The allocation of points is as follows:
・Study progress 50%
・Assignments 10%
・Knowledge Test 10%
・Live Lessons 20%
・Oral test 10%

Note:
・Knowledge test will be available when you have over 60% in total all of the learning materials completed and the assignments submitted.
・Attendance certificate will not be issued in case that you attend none of the live lessons or that you do not take the oral test.
